No, this is not the nucleus of a cell but is an extreme close up of the inside of a passion flower after a rain shower. Taken with a 100mm macro lens, 2x teleconverter and an extension tube so the magnification is about 2.5:1. All comments welcome.>=))>

Looks like a scene from "Fantastic Voyage" Bill. I love the colors and clarity of the stems and water droplets. A wonderfully different perspective.

It does sort of resemble an endoscopic view inside the body! I like that you captured the ever cool flower reflections in the water droplets.

Bill,
very cool macro shot. I love the colors and the reflection in the droplets. Great different perspective that gives the perception of another world. Brilliantly done. :toast:

Gorgeous image, Bill. The foreground details and the color support in the background are excellent. As one who is a real novice at macro photography, I'm wondering how many stops of compensation you have to make with the set-up you describe?

Saw this in Barbara's thread Bill. Loved it there but wanted to say so here. The water droplets really make this a neat image.

Craig: The 2x converter costs 2 stops and the extension tube robs some more. Fortunately the camera retains metering with all this stuff aboard. Where this really comes in to play is the reduction in minimum aperture. The lens by itself is f2.8 but with the converter and tube aboard the minimum is between f5.6 and f8. It pretty much rules out autofocus although at this range AF is pretty useless anyway. DOF at this range is also very limited. I'm pretty sure this was shot at f22 but even then the BG details are pretty fuzzy. >=))>
