Short Eared Owl Backlit2

Canon 1D Mark 4 With EF 500mm f4 & 1.4 tc
1/320 sec, F5.6, ISO 1600

This is another one that was backlit and I am happy with the result. It depicts how well these birds hover over prey. I was lucky enough to have this one fly right at me and hunt 30 feet away. Thanks for looking and commenting.

another really nice one--the face looks nice and sharp which is, again, amazing at 1/320. nice wing position and great matching colors in bird and bg. you did really well with this encounter, Michael.

Nicely done, as mentioned, really wonderful to get that head/face sharp at this SS. Cool shot.

Although backlit you have very good illumination of the underside. The colors and patterns are very nicely represented here, your proximity to the owl is very evident. A bit faster shutter speed would have been useful, perhaps underexpose a little in the field or an even higher iso selection? Wonderful opportunity with a excellent photo to show for it. :toast:

A lovely image
A slightly faster shutter speed would have been better but you got away with it.
Well done.
