Nice catch Sandy! Seriously though, this to me is a very unique shot with the crab in it's bill. I'm sure this shot made your day. It would have been nice even without the crab but with it is a huge bonus. Nice light on the face and great eye. This is really picky but I bet if you could have this shot again you would use a faster shutter speed to freeze the shaking of the crab. As I'm sure you know with the TC on the 500mm it would take faster than 1/500 to freeze quick movements. You should have known he was gonna catch a crab and planned ahead better. :toast:

Really great action Sandy. Love the low angle and the crab is awesome. Very nice exposure on a tough subject. The feather detail on the head is not stellar and at first I thought it was motion blur or a large crop, but after more looking it looks like the head has water still coming over it creating this affect. I would love to have this image in my files.

Ron, you're right that there is water streaming off the body, giving the sheen and lack of detail to the head. He had just come up from diving a split-second before.
You can see the stream of water if you look closely at the back of the neck where it joins the body.

Nice job Sandy. Love the green head, crab meal and the "low in water" pose, I'm looking forward to their return here soon.

Great timing and exposure control. There are some around here I have been trying to get images of. Gives me some motivation!
