American Oystercatcher coming in for a landing on Galveston Bay. The BG is the glassy water in early morning light - you can just make out a few ripples in the FG.

1DMk4, 600 MM + 1.4, 1/800 @ f11, ISO 400
Manual Exp., spot metered, tripod, 50% of FF

Comments and Critiques greatly appreciated.

Great catch!
Perfect exposure, nice sats and eye, and clean BG.

Nice flight position. There's a bit of a halo around the wings and head from the Clarity slider in raw conversion or perhaps from use of Shadow/Highlight.

Randy,
Great depth of field here at F/11. Nice and sharp with great whites. You nailed this one. No nits from me.

Knowing the background is water rather than sky puts a whole new perspective on the shot. Really like the flight pose and the glassy water.

cheers

Really like the slightly gangly flight posture Randy and you've handled the challenging exposure well. I too see the halo previously mentioned.
