This is the fantastic Neon Canyon in Escalante National Monument. I've seen a few other compositions of this spot, but here is my take on it. Excited to hear what you think.

My brother and I started out this hike a little late in the day - and because of a few delays didn't get to this location until about an hour before sun down. My brother was anxious to get started back, but of course I had to wait for just the right light. Well, on our way back one of our flashlights broke (the good one), and the other flashlight's batteries started dying. For most of the steep and somewhat dangerous hike back we were pretty much in the dark. My brother was freaking out a little - but of course - it was worth it (to me  ). We made it back fine around 1:00 am.

Larger version available.

Critiques, comments and suggestions appreciated.

This look great to me....maybe someday I'll get there. I'm a bit bothered by the blue in the highlight reflections, but I often find that digital images contain more blue in shadows and highlights than I remember. It makes me wonder if this is a technology issue or a perception issue. Again, great shot.

Very pretty Andrew. The richness of the color is very nice. Very peaceful too.

Andrew, this is a beautiful photo. The light and the colors are right on target. From my armchair view, waiting for the light was worth the risky hike out. I would love to see this in person.

This is quite nice, Andrew, although a bit saturated. That's some hike that crosses the river six times. I've done it, but never made it to the end because I needed time to get back up. I'll always regret it. Thanks for taking me back.

Love the composition, but I there is a strong magenta cast that i'd personally tone down a bit, it's just a little too much for me. Nonetheless, wonderfully done!

A very cool image here! :toast:

I think with a little color correction (previously mentioned) this will really sing!
