Another shot from last weekend's pelagic. This bird has just taken flight after landing briefly in the water. Not the most elegant of poses.

ISO 800 f6.3 1/2000 exp comp +1/3

cheers
Rob

Good job! How large is the boat that you were on?

Nothing wrong with this "inelegant" pose Rob. The head is well defined, you got light in the eye and I like the flopping legs and feet. Exposure looks good and your composition works well for me. I also like the bits of the birds shadow on the water surface at bottom.

Very nice IMO. Pelagic shooting is difficult and getting a large image and good sharpness always impresses me in such conditions.

Nice view of the fleshy-foot and other ID characters, and I like the water droplets.

nicely done, Rob. I like the pose and the fleshy foot hanging down. the water drops and the waves beneath the bird are nice also. and of course, keeping a bird in the frame, let alone getting it sharp, on a moving boat is quite a task.

I saw one of these off the coast of Washington--cool to consider the expanse of their range.
