Ryan says hello!
by Ryan Marshik
From my Quinzhee in Northern, Minnesota.
Ojibwa hunters used quinzhees as hunting shelters. After making a pile of snow with their snowshoes, and letting it settle for several hours, it was then hollowed out for shelter from the wind and cold. A shooting friend and I built one near a deer carcass in hopes of getting images of Eagles, Foxes or Coyotes. As a photo blind it works well with the thick walls dampening shutter and shooter noise.

Steger MukluksDesigned for and used on many polar dog sledding expeditions. Nothing better.
Great idea! I've built, and slept in igloos and snow caves. They really are pretty cozy, and they don't flap in the wind!
