Marbled Godwit & Snack

Shot this morning within a 10 minute window when the fog had broken. There were about a dozen godwits huddled around some gulls, so I couldn't get any clean shots, but this one ventured out by himself for a few minutes while the skies were relatively clear. I have no idea what the "snack" was. This was a bit tight for my tastes, but at least it was framed pretty well.

Olympus E-3 ZD300 F2.8 +EC20 Wimberley I, ISO 400 1/2500 f5.7 0.0EV full frame with a slight tilt correction.

I too would prefer slightly more space but I think this is excellent as posted. Light, exposure, position, detail are all first rate.

Nice shot Bill. I agree, a bit more room would have been nice. I like the light, angle, and action. Overall an appealing image.

Neat shot, Bill. I like the soft light, the pose of the bird and the detail of the feathers. I agree too: a bit more room would have been nice, but you can easily increase the canvas given the uniform BG.

Very nice. I would go just a bit brighter.

I love that worm sticking out. Almost looks like an anteater's tongue  . Nice light.

Excellent image!
Great colors, detail, pose and prey.
I'd also add a bit of canvas on top and right.

I agree it is a frame filler Bill, but it doesn't feel crowded because of how well it is framed. Nice work on this!

Nothing like a polychaete worm for breakfast. Agree about a little more space. You're getting some wonderful shots of this species Bill

cheers

Bill, I might prefer a little more space too but this is a strong image as posted for the light, detail and the bird's pose. Exposure looks great too.
