Mid-Winter Daydream

I spent some time digging through older photographs to share here. In terms of my relatively short relationship with photography, this is practically ancient. In all honesty, my main reason for sharing it now is to break up the string of "blue" in my "gallery".

A little warmth never hurt.

D70 - ISO 200
18mm - f/22 - 1/2 sec

Obviously, the location is familiar to anyone who has made the trip to the Subway in Zion NP.

Great colors and perspective here!
If you're trying to avoid "blue" - this isn't the image to do that!
The water has a decidely blue cast.

Sandy - Maybe it's impossible for me to avoid blue all together; I don't know. But when you compare this with my last 5 posts to NPN, it is most definitely not blue in the same sense. Aside from my silly agenda, I think the natural warmth of the leaves and canyon wall are emphasized by the cool water. Thanks for your comment.

Very nice composition! :toast:

I wish the light was a little softer, but that is the difficulty of the SW.

Kent, I think your composition here is really nice. Better than most I've seen from this location, including my own from an almost identical angle (but mine isn't quite as good). Always love the Subway.

Classic beauty. The falls don't always have so much water, which adds to the beauty of the place I think. Nice balance of light here.

You've done a great job, there is so much flow in the water and then you hit the warmth of the rocks, which really adds drama.

Lovely image, Kent. The warmth is certainly welcome  I particularly love how you framed the bubbly froth at the bottom so that it is entirely contained within the frame.

Looks like you hit the colors and water flow at just the right time. No suggestions, looks great as is.

Beautiful shot Kent. I like the way you've handled the colors. There was not this much water in my only chance at this spot. Maybe again someday!
