Golden withdrawal
by Chikku Baiju
The last remenants of a winter storm that swept through the valley this weekend. The retrieving clouds caught some nice golden light 5 minutes before sunset. They turned pink after the sun went down. I have a shot of that too, but I think I prefer the light and cloud movement in this shot.
Not my best shot, but I think its kinda cool. Let me know what you guys think.
Tech:
Canon 5DII w/ 70-200mm f/2.8L
f/16
159sec
Used a 9stop ND filter and a polarizer to increase the exposure time.
Thank you,
Chikku

7 commentsThe sky and it's motion is the best element in the image, the color could be saturated just a little more for may taste and since there's very little detail in the dark horizon a pano crop emphasizing the dramatic sky might work better.

What a great sky! The clouds are awesome and were rendered beautifully with the very long exposure. Sometimes with cloud blurs I think many images don't go long enough making the perceived cloud movement "jerky" if that makes sense. I think you did well with this one.
Saturation is of course a personal choice, but I think I'll echo Paul's comment.
