Jump Off Rock - REPOST

The weather forecast called for 60 degrees, breezy with a sky full of gorgeous clouds. What better day than to grab the camera and head out.

This image was taken at Jump Off Rock which is located in Laurel Park, North Carolina (near Hendersonville). A favorite spot for hiking but the views from the top are spectacular; the Smoky Mountains to the West and Asheville to the East.

This is my first post in this Gallery as I usually post images in Photo Art or Flora. My camera is a Nikon D70 with tripod and polarizing filter.

Thanks for viewing my image. Comments are very much appreciated.

Seems weird in detail- foreground and the line below the trees?. Maybe some filter or processing you havent mentioned. Seems HDR or Orton effect? Many little things here that need attention. Keep posting- I'll keep commenting

Thanks Bob. Actually, this is one of the few images that I did very little post processing except for a bit of brightness and contrast. I have used HDR on some of my images but not on this one. I appreciate your comments and I'll definitely continue posting.

I am struck by how dark the sky looks relative to the land. Jump Off Rock is where? What am I missing? I like the trees, though. The clouds look great in form but strangely dull in color. More ( or less! ) processing seems to be wanting. Composition-wise, I think the three trees would stand well by themselves without the tree on the left. Keep 'em coming, Barbara; will hope for a repost on this one.

I like the composition and all of the interesting clouds. Overall the image seems very dark especially the sky at the top of the three trees.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have gone back to the original image, did a bit of cropping and just a slight bit of processing. I think this is a better image.

Jump Off Rock is located off of Route 64 in the Laurel Park area of Hendersonville, North Carolina. Hendersonville is about 30 minutes south of Asheville. It's a beautiful place to photograph in the winter when there is snow and ice. I appreciate all of your comments. I will continue to work on my post processing of my images.

I like the more natural look of your repost Barbara. I also like the contrast of the trees against the sky.
