Fishing Berlin style

I found this completely surreal scene on a Sunday afternoon walk in Berlin's riverside Treptower park this summer. On the other side of the river there is a big old East Berlin industrial zone with many factories being closed down and a few still functioning as you can see from the smoke mixing with the clouds. I'm not sure about the pollution levels but there's quite a lot of water activity like paddling and EVEN fishing in the area. I find these kind of paradoxes very typical of Berlin. Just to complete the scene, there was loud electro music coming for a big rave party right behind me. Unfortunately, I can't add the soundtrack

Canon EOS 40D + canon ef-s 18-55mm@28mm f13 1/320s hand-held
I cloned out a couple of branches to the very right of the factory. Hope it's not visible.

This is one the most effective forms of EPJ photography, Andrius. A paradox! Viewers compare the two really opposing scenes within the same frame. Sam Abell calls it "the frame within the frame," with the message or point of the photo found in the tension between the "two" photos within the same. It's a potent tool for conveying a message!

Very well done, even without the sound track. :toast:

Yes, well done. A very powerful photograph indeed. I wouldn't eat the fish

Very nice technical image, and nice explanation of this EPJ scene.
Congrats on the EP!
