Yep, another leafscape. This is a rather large crop of an area full of these beautiful yellow leaves (ID requested). I just liked the overall texture and color and thought I would share.

LARGER version available for better detail.

D2X w/ 28-70 @ 34mm
.3 sec @ f/10 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
Don't remember about filtration, probably a polarizer
Tripod
Capture One 6, CS4, TK's actions

Critiques, suggestions, and comments always welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking and sharing your thoughts.

Bill they look an awful lot like Sycamore leaves but that's just a SWAG ( Scientific Wild Ass Guess) I have a native sycamore in my front yard, but many English sycamores were planted as street trees here in So Cal. You're taking landscape to the nth degree and these are like groundscapes, nio disparagement intended I like leaf litter, it provides shelter for all kinds of neat crawly things and can be colorful and the decay provides vital nutrients for the soil. It's one of nature's best recycling plants. ( as in factory) .

Bill: These almost look like maple leaves to me. Most of the sycamores in our area are just a dull brown and rarely show any significant color. They're also pretty big, sometimes 8-10 inches across. Regardless of the ID I certainly like the shot and how you cropped this. Good photography. >=))>

Bill,

I don't know the id but I certainly agree with you concerning the texture and color. The crop also frames a really fine composition for my tastes. Beautiful work.

Great colors Bill! I think what I enjoy most about this photo is the depth you discover when you look past the top layer of leaves. You can see the leaves laying a few layers down, and even the ground in a few spots. Adds a nice dynamic to this IMO.

I like these leafscapes/groundscapes...and have dozens of them that never see the light of day. Nice depth to a shallow shot, and the colors are compelling. I would also guess sycamore, but not sure.
