Cloud Bank WC #472

I was at the Audbon facility in Milford, CT which is on a point of land extending into Long Island Sound on one side and marsh land on the other. This storm came in very quickly and I got out to take a few shots before the hail, wind, and then torrential rain came down in buckets. Watched as the osprey which nest close by tried to dodge the lightning and the hail... complete chaos for them. The storm passed over quickly and I returned home. Have never seen such a sight as this bank of clouds of varying eerie colors.

Canon 5D, using wide angle lens.

This is an incredible sighting Patricia. It must have been amazing. I love the strong diagonal line and muted colours. It looks almost surreal :toast:

I like the radiating lines and ominous mood Patricia.

There isn't much to complain about here. I really appreciate the way the sky dominates the frame. I wonder if the subtle colors might not be more evident with a darker or black background.

Looks like the sky turned upside down! Wouldn't mind seeing just a little bit more of the ground but wow that is some sky.

That is one nasty gust front. If that was the midwest, I'd be looking for a basement expecting a tornado.

Awesome shot you captured! In the right place..at the right time...........except for the hail. What we do for our photos! No wonder my husband does not understand my passion.
:toast: Beautiful colors! I,especially, like the curves in front of the clouds!

I've seen storm fronts roll into the Gulf of Mexico like this. I'll post one. Very cool :wavey: But, I've never seen them with those lovely curves of color in front of "the front".
