That's excellent from a moving boat - even a pontoon one!

Sandy,
You have the hand held technique down pat. Fantastic colors and sharpness Sandy. I really like this one. The eye is to die for. Well done.

Hi Sandy,
This is a beautiful portrait that does credit to the magnificent Tri-Colored Heron; I love the one-legged pose with the crooked foot and the colours are superb :^) We're fortunate to have a number of beautiful Heron species here in Thailand, but I'm still greedy enough to wish the Tri-Color would fly the extra mile or two ;^p
Kind regards,
Ashley

Very solid image (especially hand held from a moving boat Sandy). Love the lifted foot and the colors look real nice. My only small nit, is I wish the BG was more OOF. Not sure you really needed f/8 on this one. If it were mine, I might have lowered my ISO to 400 and shot it at f/5.6. With 1/3200 you had plenty to play with.

That's a spectacular shot, Sandy. I certainly can't find anything to criticize. I'm especially impressed you got that from a boat.

Great image Sandy. Hard for me to imagine HH a 500mm on a pontoon boat and getting it this sharp. Way to go!
