I met this very friendly chamois (Camoscio d'Abruzzo) at 2000 mt. along the trail.
I just sit down on the rocks and enjoyed his company for the best part of an hour…

Crop for composition.
C&C welcome.

Maurizio, I like it. Good techs and very intimate. You must've really enjoyed being there.

I like the angle and the detail. I really like the strong and liquid look of the eye. I am wondering if a square format might be more suitable, given the amount of space on the left.

Nice portrait of a nice species- Very good details and BG, maybe I'd leave just a bit more room on upper side- Well done, Fabio

I like this close perspective of an animal we don't see often. Thanks for posting it! It feels to me, if you have the right amount of pre-crop canvas, that this would have made a really good vertical composition.

Excellent portrait Maurizio with good detail and a nice smooth OOF BG. I do echo Lon's comment about the composition suggestion.

I really like the colors and detail in this. I agree about maybe changing the crop a little...my only other very small nit, is I am not sure I love the angle at which this was taken....I feel like I am looking up at him.

Interesting animal portrait and one I have never heard of. I like the eye contact and how the light shines up the light brown fur. With that wonderful background I also might be inclined to go with a vertical crop, well done.

Thank you very much to everybody for watching and suggesting!

Wayne: you are right. I really had a wonderful time! Being accepted is something very touching…

Phil: I tried the square format, but it didn't look convincing to me, because in my case results in a "boxy" composition with nothing for the subject to look into. Thanks for the suggestion and for your time, anyway.

Fabio: I am afraid that is all the space I got… :-(

Lon and Vincent: I am posting a first try vertical crop, what do you think about it?

Kurt: You are right. I was a little lower than the chamois on a steep mountain side and completely out of cover (in full view for him), I couldn't move without causing alarm and all the confidence would have been gone… So I let him take the lead and make the moves he best liked!

Jim: it's a species typical of the middle Appennines Mountains, here in Italy. It lives only there. The Alpine Chamois is a different animal. What do you think of the vertical alternative I posted?
