Green Iguana Portrait

Olympus E-5, 300, tripod
f5.6, 1/320, ISO640

Green Iguana showing some wear and tear. Photographed at Simon Bolivar ("Iguana") Park, Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Full frame. Fairly light selective sharpening. It was a challenge to photograph because with the throat spines in focus, the green background (a garden) had detail that overwhelmed the image.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Jim, I think you choice to of f5.6 is just right. The eye and back of head are beautifully detailed and the under throat spines going soft adds to the sense of depth. This is a very pleasing comp.

Jim, I really like the color and details of this. I also like how the green BG helps pull the green colors out of the iguana! My only small nit is I wish he didn't appear to be turning away from the viewer.

Hi Jim, this is an appealing image to me; interesting subject with a very nice eye that works as a strong focal point, lovely vibrant BG as well. IMO it would have been ideal though if you had photographed this Iguana in a position parallel to the camera, particularly considering you had to use a very wide aperture.
