i was out on a hike, and decided to sit down for a break, and this bird flew right next to me for a few minutes.
i was able to get a couple pictures of him, using a canon rebel g, with a 75-300mm lens.

Nice clean image with a nice perch. You might try cropping it to a vertical for compositional purposes.

Welcome to NPN Bert, you've got a juvenile Rock Wren there. I would crop some from the left as the bird is looking out of the frame here. I like the perch and the background here. Generally speaking the comp will work better with the bird placed so it's looking into the frame rather than out of the frame.

Hello Bert.
Love the bird perch and background in this all three have a nice feel to them.
Would agree about cropping some of the left.

Really like the setting here Bert - both the background and the perch. You also got a nice pose from the bird in good light. Agree with the suggestions about composition. And welcome to NPN.

That's a perfect rock he chose for a perch, neat color and textures. Good separation of the bird from the background, not always easy to do. I agree that having the subject facing into the frame usually works best. Welcome!
