Autumn in Greece
by Lizzie Shepherd
I'm guessing this isn't what most people associate with Greece - but towards the north of the mainland is the most stunning landscape you could hope to encounter. Mountains, gorges, old villages, packhorse brigdes, ancient churches and monasteries, forests, etc - I could go on forever!
Anyway, I went there twice last year - first with my husband on holiday in May when it was green and flowers everywhere, 2nd time in the Autumn - just for a solo photoshoot and to scout a few workshop locations. This was one of my favourite views for dawn/sunrise. I was just past the peak colours and would have liked a few more clouds but it really was beautiful and I hope you get a little glimpse of what I saw here. The scene changed all the time but I think this is my favourite - for now at least!

I think I have not used this word in a critique before, but this photo is lyrical.
The light is gorgeous and the way it plays on the varied landscape is both gentle and mystical.
Beautifully done!

What a grand and beautiful scene you have captured. Great combo of the autumn colors and the layers of mountains and fog covered valleys. Beautiful!
Hardly visible, but somewhat apparent is the village below. Insignificant to the overall composition, but I wanted to mention it for future considerations and including evidence of the "hand of man." Obviously none of us moderators has moved the image, but I just wanted to mention it.
A glorious capture and we'll look forward to more from this area.

Lon - good point about the little village - never even occurred to me that potentially put it in another gallery - I think the next one I will post has a tiny monastery in it so I shall have to think about where it best fits
