Barn Owl (resting)

This barn owl was one of three I was watching, this one decided to take a rest, there was one without a ring and would have loved that one to land but I have to be happy with this full frame shot so decided I am not bothered about the ring.

Canon 1DMK4, Canon 500f4L + 1.4 convertor, ISO 100, f6.3, 1/1000

Cool picture! I really like the lighting you had here! I love the catchlight in his eye, the colours, and the plants wrapping around the post look really neat.

Beautiful light composition, perch and sharpness. It is kind of a bummer about the band on the leg, but I'd be pretty darn happy with this.

It is great that this is full frame in such nice light. You could probably clone that ring away if you were so inclined. I think it would improve this beautiful owl image.

Really like the setting and the over the shoulder look Karen - well done. How would a tighter crop look??

cheers

Beautiful lighting. The perch could be a bit more natural, but the Owl looks great. The band doesn't bother me at all. :toast:

I must say that I have kept only one of my "banded" shots (don't notice them until I get home), but I'd be keeping this one, I think.

Another beauty Karen, please keep them coming, I love looking at your Barn Owls. The colors in this beautiful soft light and the interest added by the perch are top notch - well done.

Beautiful look at this owl, Karen. Beautiful light and that background really works well. Not sure about the perch, the vegetation wrapped around the post just does not appear natural.
