Monastery, Vikos Gorge

I posted this telephoto view of the little monastery and springs at the bottom of the Vikos Gorge yesterday - but only in reply to my wide angle view of the scene. A couple of people suggested I give it its own thread - which I couldn't do at the time as the 48 hour curfew was not up! ;-) Now it is, and so here it is. If you look in my gallery, you will see the wider view.
After this, I walked down to the bottom of the gorge and explored around the monastery - someone had clearly been staying there - and the Springs looked very inviting for a swim but, being alone, I decided against it! ;-)

Wonderful colours throughout Lizzie. I like the meandering stream and agree it looks totally inviting.

Gary.

Being one of the people to suggest this get its own thread, I am very happy to see this again... It is beautifully composed and very wisely chosen out of all your alternatives. An aerial view like this is hard to recognize, you either get it or you dont, and you sure got it! I love the dizzy feeling I get, like I am going to fall into that blue stream, the gorgeous warm colors, its just a stunning photo!

Beautiful turquoise water in the heart of autumn color Lizzie...... What a wonderful color contrasts. Love this more intimate scene from your previous post. Gorgeous light and color.

thanks very much everyone.
Bill - I'm glad it looks like a place that people would want to visit - me and another photographer plan on taking a group there later this year. I have to say, though, that walking back out of the gorge later on, in what was then the midday sun, was seriously hard work - even in November time! Then again, it was unusually warm for the time of year...
