Near Midway Geyser Basin in Yellowstone NP, taken last month.
Color version will be posted below. Some folks may have issues with the cut off trees on the right, though it doesn't bother me really.

Canon 5D2. 24-105. ISO 100. f/8. 1/180 sec. BW conversion in Silver Efx Pro.

Cut off trees don't bother me Doug. I always find shooting into the sun very difficult but you have done an excellent job with this. I like the mist rising off the river.

I like the B&W version better. Detail is super. I can't decide on the cut off trees. On the one hand it would be nice if the tops were included. On the other they are certainly not the main focus. What if you cropped down from the top to just above the hill top (about 1/2 way down the first tree just right of center) so the tops were really cut off? The semi pano effect adds emphasis to the river.

Outstanding, Doug! I like both images but prefer the B&W,
and the cut off trees don't bother me. The mist rising from
the river is a nice plus that creates a good mood.

The focus is more on the mist and shadow of the tree on the river (which leads to the mist). I don't mind the cut off trees. I prefer the B&W version Doug. Excellent detail in the larger view.

Prefer the BW. I like the well balanced and original composition very much.

The unique effect of the light on the evergreen leaves makes the monocolor my choice, too.
Great stuff.

I also like the conversion, the backlighting, and the mist.

I like both versions, but you're right, the very far left tree is bothersome. But go with what feels right for you. Interesting how the light works so well in both B&W and color.

Love the backlighting of the trees and the mist rising off the water. For me the color version sings a bit more than the b/w. Both are outstanding though.

B&W for me, excellent conversion, don't see noise in clouds, which seems to be my problem in SEPRO 2
