Mastiles Lane, Yorkshire

This one is from the Yorkshire Dales - over 5 years ago now and I wonder how this wall is getting along! It was a wintery day when a sunny morning was about to turn into a rather wet afternoon - I loved the tumbling form of the dry stone wall (anyone else see the Loch Ness monster here?) and good old Velvia brought out the best of the dark grey sky and vivid light.
Pentax 645Nii and I think the 45-85 lens (without digging out the tranny, I can't say for sure)

My favorite kind of conditions and light Lizzie. I love the ominous, dark sky and undulating rock wall. So is this Nessie's day job? Beautiful light and textures!

The contrast between the sunlit stones and the ominous sky is great. The texture of the stones and the alternation of standing and fallen wall just adds to the sense of foreboding. Any minute now Nessie the younger will jump over the wall and attack.

Great colors and composition, Lizzie, a very expressive image!

Thanks all and I'm glad you can see the monster in there! I sometimes wonder whether I should have tried a lower viewpoint so the land doesn't interrupt the curves but suspect that would have brought its own problems.
