by Phil Ellard
My first post for a while as I have been putting a lot of effort in on the processing. A big thank you to Andy Astbury @ wildlife in Pixels for all your help and support and to Mark Davies for the recoomendation and for telling me I needed help! Ive still a long way to go but I can see a differnace all ready.
Taken in the Masai Mara, late morning October last year.
As usual all C&C welcomed

But, heartiest congrats matey as it looks totally 'un-crucified' in post; it's clean, noise-free, hasn't had the guts cropped out of it, and there's no Shadow/Highlight adjust halos or sharpening halos - seems like the iron bar upside the head is a useful teaching aid afterall
Mark's dead right about the comp - but that's something I'm not particularly worried about at the moment with you Phil; progress comes with baby steps so they say; but this image represents one heck of a giant leap in your processing ability.
Slow down and stop stressing - keep that new monitor in check with the calibrator, watch your blacks and highlights and just be methodical.
If the monitor is right, and the image looks right, then it is right - just take your time on the 'looks right' bit and be your own biggest critic.
Good stuff indeedy Phil - now get on with it
