The bounce light inside of this alcove near the Utah/Arizona border was simply amazing on this last day of winter. When I'm immersed in beauty like this, I realize what an extraordinary pleasure and privilege it is to live on the Colorado Plateau.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Many positives about this composition, John. Colors and lighting to begin
with, followed by textures and details. The shape at the bottom reminds
me of the flow of a creek/river. Well seen and captured. Thanks for
sharing, and thank you for today's critique of my Death Valley dunes'
image.

Very nice. One that really grabs you from the thumbnail and gets even better as it gets bigger. Color, pattern, texture, detail, wonderful light- it's all there. Very well done.

Crazy beautiful color and texture John. I'm not even sure of the orientation - am I looking at ground with a side wall, or all one wall? A real unique shot and abstract. While entirely a personal decision, you might try reducing a little of the red in the shadows- may bive you more depth to the image. Adjust Color Balance in Image, Adjustments, Color Balance and try the shaow slider. Sorry if you already knew this  :toast:

Beautiful, mysterious, stunning, captivating, unique… The processing is perfect and I love that I can’t make out what I am looking at. For me the unknown is exciting and makes the art.
Thank you for sharing your inspirational vision with us.
A+

I have no idea what I'm looking at, but it is flippin' cool! It seems like the upper portion is a tad soft, but the color, lines, and light really hold my interest.

Wow, what a fiery image. The top part reminds me of the grain exposed in a piece of broken wood, while the bottom shows pattern of sand deposition by a shallow stream. The color puts it aflame. Nice combo of patterns and flow from the right middle.
My preference would like to see some pale yellow in the "white" sandstone in the middle left.

Wow John, very unique shot and I just LOVE sandstone abstracts like this. YOu have a nice variety of lines, colors and textures here, and all lines seem to compliment each other and work very well. The bounce light here is also exceptional and you did a fine job seeing it and capturing it here. Very well done, the large version is just insane, and I'd say print it up and hang it proudly!

I don't think every image has that emotional connection to it's photographer. They don't necessarily have to have it to be good. But the one's we are connected to in an emotion way are usually better. I like your expression of gratitude easily as much as I like this fine image!

Just awesome! Beautiful light, color, lines and shapes. Not sure if I figured it out but the lower part looks like a river could flow through there. Really interesting shot, John.
