Chaos and Light

This image was taken in the floodplains of the March, a river at the Austrian-Slovakian border. In January we had high water after a period of rain and thaw in our region.

My main impression was the chaos after the flood, which seemed somehow alleviated by the subtle warming light in the late afternoon.

Fascinating! I love all the textures and shapes here, Peter. The light brings a beautiful mood, and even some order, to all this chaos. The trees on the left look a little out of focus, but it doesn't keep me from enjoying the view.

Lovely light and details here Peter - this is one of those rare occasions (imo) when a 'messy' image comes together really well and it really has something about it that draws you in.

I see what you mean about the light penetrating the chaos of the tangled branches, but in the bottom, where the light doesn't reach but in reflection, chaos still reigns. If the contrast between the two was not part of your point, it might not hurt to crop some from the bottom.

The light is sweet, and you managed to capture the chaos quite well...

This is very pretty, especially considering how chaotic a scene it is. I really like the quality of the light and the colors, and there is an order to the chaos that is intriguing. I've looked at it a few times today and it grows on me more and more.

The light here is wonderful Peter. It really did change the chaos of this scene into a very interesting place. Light is an amazing thing, and you showed that here. Nice work, Peter.
