Another one that I hope to revist in the future. I shot this one after work tonight. It is an hour from my front door so not an expedition but far enough that you have to make a commitment to give it a try. It is about 15 minutes from my last post but the light definitely wasn't right to try to re-shoot that one. I was hoping for more dramatic light on the mountains and perhaps a little color cast on the peaks from a sunset. I am thinking perhaps a longer focal length to bring the mountains in a little closer.
f20
ISO 100
1/30 sec

Suggestions please

Overall, a very nice image! Great composition, excellent warm/cool contrast, dramatic clouds, and a nice reflection. To me it seems a tad but dark in the upper portions, maybe do a little dodge on the lighter parts of the mountains and clouds? Also, I wonder if it's leaning a bit right. Maybe it's just that the mountain peaks get shorter on the right, I would get other opinions on that, its definitely not anything huge. But yeah, good job here, great stuff!

There's lot's of very nice repetition in this image, Chad. I like the curves of the clouds repeating in the banks of the water, and the way the reflected cloud above the mountain creates further rhythm and draws the eye in towards the snow-covered peaks. Looking at this wonderful scene there seems to be lot's of comp options. Pull out a telephoto and just frame the center of this image, or get closer down to grasses by the waters edge for more wide-angle work. I guess every day you turn up there you're going to get a whole new scene. Nice work!

Nice curve and ominous cloudy lighting in the background Chad.

Hi Chad,
The composition is very nice, it looks a little dark and a little soft but I have the idea that it would probably look very good in a print.

I like the composition and the overall scene, but the problem here is just plain less than optimal light.
I would opt for a reshoot were I you. Where is Salt Wells?

This is a lovely photo. I really like the lighting on the grasses and water. It does seem a bit dark overall. A longer focal length will make for a very different picture. At this focal length, my suggestion would be to get closer to the water so there's less grass (or maybe no grass) in the foreground. You might also try to move your position so that the snow capped peaks cover most or even all of the horizon. This looks like a wonderful spot to visit and revisit.

I really like the colours and depth here, with a good composition and also the hint of a reflection in the river.

I think this will make a cool B&W shot too!
