Morning Rain

This is an older 645 shot that I decided to rework. The barn, located in Calaveras County, no longer exists.

I would have liked to get a better angle on the barn in order to show a portion of its left side, but I was limited by a fence and a rapidly approaching rain squall--I had only a few minutes to set up and make a couple of exposures. I really liked the soft pastel light of early morning.

Real nice rural scene, Preston. Sure feels like winter in the rolling hill country.

I like shots of old buildings like this. I'm glad that you got the image before
it was razed. You're right about the quality of the light.

What a gorgeous scene, Preston. The way you have captured and presented it here is outstanding. Flawless I must say.

Old wooden structures have a charm all their own, and in this wonderful light Preston you have captured it. The other thing is you recorded it before it disappeared from the scenery. I'm not thinking that this old barn was historic or anything like that , but it's like an old friend. You pass by it, maybe wonder about it, but you took the time to go out and make an photo of it. Then one day you went by and it was gone. It's just a memory to most but you have a very nice image.

This is a very pleasing composition, Preston. From the soft pastels in the morning sky, to the trees leaning towards the barn as if to add some support, to the opening in the front that reveals the roof open to the elements there is much to enjoy.

Great light and wonderful sky! The barn is very compelling - sure sorry it's no longer around.

Nice old shack P, looks like you camera was holding the place up. It's no wonder that it's gone now. Great timeless moment!

Preston,
What a great old shot. Didn't see the original, but the colors here are very pleasing, particularly in the sky. Too bad the barn isn't there any more, would have been worth revisiting. Best Regards,

pretty cool Preston. Interesting play of themes, a somber mood created by the decay of the building with the dark tones against the soft colorful tones of the grass and sky.
