Little Crow
by Simon Bennett
Little Crow photographed on an overcast day at a rubbish dump in outback Australia. We have five species of crows/ravens down here, and they are all completely dark and call 'aaah' - quite an ID issue. This species occurs in the arid inland areas of Australia.
Canon 40D, EF500 f/4, tripod, ISO 400, f/4.5, 1/320, slight crop for composition, digitally disguised a couple of bits of white and yellow OOF plastic in background.

As a side note, assuming your corvids have similar molt strategies to ours, the browner greater coverts and flight feathers would make this a first winter bird (but maybe not?).
Brain, I think you are right, it certainly is an immature bird and it was photographed in mid winter. They adults have a white iris attained at two years of age. Simon
