Milkweed with visitor

I love to take pictures of milkweed bursting with its seeds in the fall. After I took this picture I noticed the little visitor at the bottom.

Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens. F/5.6 for 1/100 sec. ISO 100.

All comments and/or critiques welcomed.

Nice capture. Based on the thin body structure it might be one of the long-jawed orb-weavers, though its hard to be certain off the smaller image. The detail in the pod is really nice. The fully lit parts of the seed silk in the upper right look a bit hot, but again, that is hard to judge on just the small image.

Re larger sizes: I haven't gotten into posting the optional 1200 pixel picture with my original posts. Is this good to always do? Isn't the risk greater of someone downloading your picture? So much to learn. . . Any input on this appreciated. Maybe I should be doing this on the forums instead?

Terrific detail and the background colors blend so well. The visitor is a nice plus.

The forums are the best place to get solid comments about posting larger sized images. Some people post larger sizes, some don't. Personally, I would post a larger size image if I felt that the smaller size didn't do the image justice. An image with lots of small detail - or a shot that didn't downsize very well. Of course, there's always a risk that someone might choose to download your image, no matter where you post it online. That decision is entirely up to you.

As for this photo - the light is wonderful, and the spider is beautifully lit. He's a great little detail! The crop seems a little tight to me - a little more space all around would help give the subjects a bit more room to breathe. Very nice image, Carolyn! Thanks for

Varina, thanks for your input re posting larger sizes.

I do have a tendency and often prefer to crop my images tight. But I agree this one could have used some more breathing room. However, I didn't know the spider was there until I looked at the image on my computer. Unfortunately, I had cropped too tight in camera and didn't have any room at the bottom to play with to leave him more space. I guess that proves your point!
