Nice pose and great detail. Nice light on the bird's head. Too bad there isn't more light on the branch, it seems very interesting. Nice bokeh and tones in the bg.

The spot lighting is wonderful. Great pose as well. I think your exposure balances the differential lighting exceptionally well. In the larger version it looks like it may have been a bit body forcused so you are starting to lose the DOF on the head, but it should tolerate a bit more sharpening. I'd be inclined to try toning down the small brightly lit part of the branch just to keep the eye from wandering that way.

I like it very much as posted, Bob: the strange look of the bird's yellow-eyed stare combined with the sombre colors make for a beautiful and unusual shot. :toast:

Very cool shot Bob with the light selectively shining on the head. It really brings my attention to the eyes. I agree it could take a bit more sharpening, but that is an easy fix. This shot has really good impact IMO.

I like the interplay of light and shadows in this image, Bob. The eye is very sharp and grabbed my attention. I'd leave a tad more room on the right, but a great image nevertheless. :toast:

Interesting lighting, Bob. At first I was a bit put off by it, but it adds a sense of mystery that is appealing.

My only nit is the bokeh trail coming from the birds rump...the lighter circle trail...my eye went there straight away...
