I wasn't after BIF when I went to Texas recently, but this fellow cooperated nontheless.
South Padre Island
Correct ID, I hope - my borrowed Texas bird book is back at the Library!

Nice one Sandy, The detail shows well in the larger image. I like the way it is banking into the frame. Yes, Laughing Gull

A very nice flight photo, Sandy. And you ID is right. If it were mine, I'd have dropped the shutter speed a bit and tried for more DOF to pull that far wing into focus.

Very nice flight shot Sandy, I agree a little smaller aperture setting would have been ideal for a touch more DOF, and that you could have traded some of that shutter speed for it. Very nice image as is though.

Sandy, Great flight pose. Your composition shows off the bird's flight pose. I flight shots when the bird is banking (an old pilot thing). Thanks for posting.

Very nice flight shot. I like the wing position and the composition of the image. I also think the dof works really well.

Terrific shot Sandy! I love the angle and the way that the wings seem to frame the wonderfully exposed head, eye and beak. The fact that the wings appear to be softer in focus than the head lends well to the sense of motion. I like this one a lot :^)

Yes it's a laughing gull. Love the red mouth and beak. Nice detail and comp you have chosen. But unless you were somewhere I don't know-its South Padre, not San.

Very nice photo Sandy!
This is one of those where the small photo doesn't do justice to the photo. The large one posted is great! Nice lines and composition. The detail in the head and beak are great!

Very well captured Sandy, love the detail in the face and that it is banking into the frame. I think I would have gone for a bit more DOF too, but that's easier said then done when the bird is coming right at you. Very nice.
