This turtle was far away, and this is a big crop, but I really like the way you can see so much of the turtle, and I like the pose, so I went ahead and processed it for posting and feedback. There's no more room on the right because there's a palm tree in the water there. I think the sharpness stood up to the crop, but your feedback on that and anything else would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Great pose, I would go in tighter to focus more on the subject. If not, I would move him off-center.

Nice image of this colourful Turtle Barbara :^) I think it might also work well if you were to crop this portrait style, which may offer the viewer more options of thought as to why it's in this pose; sunning itself, looking out for predators, or perhaps even in a moment of appreciative contemplation of the heavens above ;^)

Hi Barbara
Pity this is already a large crop since I would crop to pano here to lose a lot of the "dead space" on top to place more emphasis on the turtle itself. I like the colours and patterns on the turtle which is accentuated by the stuck-out neck. You did well with the light you had.

I would also rotate the image slightly CW since the water level doesn't seem to be "straight".

Hi Barbara, I understand why you like this as it does give a very good view of the turtle. The image does look sharp on the larger version, but mind you that real sharpness can only be judged by looking at the original file at 100% at the size you wish to print it at. I do echo the comments made about the composition, which is not optimal as is. Also that it does need a slight CW rotation correction looking at the reflection.

I was gonna say back up if you could. I love solitary animals surrounded by negative space, but given you said a palm was there, this works!

For those of you who prefer a different crop, maybe you'll like this better. ;)
