Commanche Land

I was watching "Commanche Warriors", the documentary on the History Channel last night, and noticed that a lot of the interviews of some of the tribal members were done right at this spot at Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma, not far from where Quanah Parker, the son of a kidnapped white woman and Commanche brave, surrendered the thousand or so surviving Commanche to the U.S. Army in 1875.

This was at dawn one spring about 10 years ago.

Great light Michael. I like that tree hanging over the edge.

Neat light, and composition. I kind of think the vignette on the left is pretty strong. Maybe a crop from the top and left to reduce that area a bit/

I love how you've composed the tree, overlooking the river, and the subtle atmosphere! :toast:

Michael, I'd like to see a bit more detail in the shadows, but, may not be possible with V-50. Lovely mood!

A nostalgic or historic feel to this shot. Thanks for bringing something different in the way of location with your shots of here. I grew up in Wichita Falls, not far from here, and remember trips here as a kid. Excellent comp and great light on the bluff. Keep them coming.
