Brown Hares Boxing

I was out this morning looking for brown hares and found quite a few. This pair ere very active through out the morning. They eventually started boxing after nearly four hours of observing them. They just seamed to go from relaxing together to an instant full on boxing match. The female is the one which jumped up about three feet into the air before laying into he male.

Wonderful Ron - the female seems suspended in mid air - never seen a photo of one in this pose! Glad your perseverance was rewarded and you took good advantage. I see hares down our lane quite often but am always with our dog and have never seen them boxing - would love to one day.

Excellent Ron. The smooth backdrop really makes the hares 'pop'. You have caught the action really well. The only thing that would really improve it for me would be if the females rear legs had been slightly lower as they look a bit 'stumpy'. Still a great image anyway.

Excellently caught, Ron. I spent much of yesterday watching a pair of hares, but no action like this.
