Galapagos penguin

For whatever reason, I've been lurking and not participating much of late, so I've resolved to try and get more involved again. Late last fall my wife set us up for a tour that included Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos (poor me) and we've been back for about two weeks. If you've been there you know you aren't allowed to go off on your own in the Galapagos which limits what you can do but I still managed some images that I like. Here's one of a Galapagos penguin captured from a wave challenged panga (dingy). C and C welcome.

I think of all the species I photographed in the Galapagos, only Short-eared Owls were harder than Galapagos Penguins. Bouncy pangas, harsh light, awkward poses and those difficult blacks and whites. You've managed those challenges well. A few bits seem a bit hot, but there's good detail in the blacks and exactly the right habitat. Certainly better than any of mine. :frown:

Nice job for the conditions, Keith. That's one tough exposure. A few of the whites look blown, but that's minor. :toast:

Nice detail, Keith. Looks as though s/he's a little cock-eyed; however if the image were mine, I would be quite pleased.

I might be tempted to see if you could open the exposure in the eye just a bit; it looks a little dull.

Cheers,

Carol

Really nice, especially from a panga! Nice handling of a very tough exposure -
Nice detail and great environment. From here, there are bits of blue that are out of place. Removing them with the blue channel slider would help here, imo.
Good work!

Welcome back Keith. You've done a nice job here in very difficult conditions. I like the BIH aspects and the nice look at the red eye. Your exposure looks pretty good to me except for that one area below and behind the left "wing". That must have been a wonderful trip for you guys - hope to see some more images soon.
