This was shot two weekends ago, and it was a good thing I got out there when I did because it burned again the week after I shot this. I tried to get back out there to shoot afterburn shots but they had the road closed down due to fog and smoke both Saturday and Sunday morning for sunrise.

LARGER version available for better detail.

D2X w/ 70-200 @ 150mm
1.3 sec @ f/16 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
Fill Flash w/Omni Bounce
Singh Ray Circular Polarizer
Tripod
Capture One 6, CS4, TK's wonderful actions

Critiques, suggestions, and comments always welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking and sharing.

The details in the leaves are terrific and they do contrast nicely with the burn log. All of the soft variations in the lighting are really great.

Yeah the light is real nice. I'm impressed by the impact this has being relatively subdued color. But it really does grab me. I like earthy tones a lot and maybe that's it. Maybe subdued is the wrong word.

Wow - that's crazily good, Bill. Not only is the comp great but the color contrast shoots this one over the top for me. Excellent sharpness too.

A nice intimate, Bill---great color contrast and nice shapes! To be super picky, would have been nice to have less dirt and more wood behind the leaves, but overall this is a winner.

The branches and the subrances in addition to those cracks on the log complement each other very nicely Bill. Beautiflly composed!

Very well seen and executed, Bill. Crisp and subtle, but strong, color. The only minor nit I have is with the URC; I'd be tempted to crop that out. Still, nicely done.

I like this one Bill. The overall clarity and detail throughout the scene is very impressive. The rusty colored leaves and charred ground not only combine for some nice contrasting colors but also tell a story of the surrounding landscape. Great work!
