Crested Caracara ( juv )

A shot from my Florida trip in 2010. I had spent the day driving around looking for Crested Caracaras, and was somewhat successful when I came upon an adult and 2 juv in a field by a small pond late in the evening near Lake Okeechobee. This one flew into this area and looked back to see if the other had followed. It flew away as quickly as it came and I only managed to get a few shots.
I like the habitat here, though some may find it distracting, especially the limb at right. I'm interested in what others think.

Great pose and nice capture, Doug. Yeah, I agree. That limb at the right is distracting.

Only suggestion I have is cropping.

Sorry about that.

Cheers,

Carol

Excellent, Doug. Lovely late evening light and detail. The log on the right is just a bit distracting, but it helps form the habitat, and I'd leave it in this case.

I'm really enjoying the habitat and light on this one Doug - nice head turn to take advantage of that warm light. The limb on the right doesn't bother me a lot

Lovely light. The pose and head turn are very nice as is the detail. The limb on the right is a bit of a distraction to me, but it could be toned down rather than cropped to lessen that. I do wish there was better separation between the bird and the brush on the maint branch it is on. Probably just too close even at 5.6. a minor nit on a very nice image.
