Out this Monday and found NOTHING to shoot. I was pretty frustrated and let down when I saw this guy hangin out. John Chesnut Park Pinellas FL. I shot a series with my 150 2.8 lens,
by climbing a fence halfway and leaning over.I also shot on the tripod with my 300 lens. This was my favorite of them where the bokeh in the bg wasn't too busy or bright. Beings it was backlit I used some flash as well.
Canon 1D MIII 300 mm 2.8 L lens
ISO 320 f3.2 @1/320
Fill with 580 EX II
Cropped about 15%

Looks like "nothing" turned into "something very cool " !
Really nice detail - just wish the tail were in focus too - but fine as it is.
Like the colors both on the 'fly and in the BG.
Not sure about the bits of leaves in the upper right - might be better cloned out.

Aesthetically pleasing image Cheryl, love this hanging pose.
Like the slightly off-center comp, and the DF stands out very well against this soft light BG..
I've yet to shoot a DF @ F/3.2, will have to try it :)
Well done :toast:

It's amazing to me how your photos always seem to project your style. This has a soft feminine feel while retaining great detail and drama like most of your work. I love it.

This is fantastic, Cheryl! The bright light behind makes the dragonfly really stand out. I love the unusual pose - and the title made me laugh. The depth of field is perfect. The very soft details in the background add a nice bit of interest without being distracting. I think the mood of the image is what attracted me more than anything. It's bright and playful - with a freshness that makes me want to go outside and breathe in a little bit of Spring. Masterfully done.

The larger image really shows the detail in the dragon fly, especially in the wings. Nice image.
