I usually don't photograph birds on the water on pelagics but I thought this youngster looked so gormless I couldn't resist.

cheers

Rob, I like this a lot. soft light, great eye contact, nice water drops, good dof, and nice movement in the water. not quite as low an angle as you usually have though, couldn't they tow you behind the boat on these pelagics? joking aside, this is a great looking shot.

Rob, I like the positioning of the bird and detail looks real nice on this. Doesn't look like you had any light to work with...overcast day I presume? Anyhow, very nice work! :toast:

A charming subject and a fine image. THe viewing angle seems quite low to me: how big is the boat you work from?

Nice work on the whites, Rob. I like how the bird is nestled into the waves.

Hi Richard,
here's a shot of the boat we charter out to the shelf which is about 45km

Wonderful job on getting this in the boat. I like the detail on the larger image and that is quite some beak. Well done on the contrast colors, way to go.

The detail you've caught in this subject is wonderful, and the choppy waves and the water dripping from it's beak lends well to the image as a whole, well done Rob :^)

Superb detail, Rob. That nice headturn makes a great pose. You did a very nice job with the exposure, especially in what looks like overcast conditions. Great image.
