Lenten Rose--Red Lady

by Carolyn Derstine

Here is another lenten rose picture from my indoor shooting day recently. I have only 2 kinds of these (Ivory Price and Red Lady) but I hope to get more. It's one of the earliest flowers to bloom in spring which makes it extra special for the joy it gives.

Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens. F/22 for 2 sec. ISO 100.

Carolyn:
Nice capture and love the bg (looks like you are also a fan of the dark side). The light hitting the leaves really show off the vein pattern. Beautiful flower of course. The image may be slightly oversharpened.

The strong lighting makes for a striking image. Well done.

Love the light and the textural detail Carolyn. It's also a very appealing color palette for me and the red works really well against the black bg. Beautiful image for my tastes.

The vivid colors jump off the black bg here and I find the veins of the leaves a particularly nice element. There are a few over the top highlights but overall a fine capture.

A very nice photo for a very nice flower. I agree with Gary about the oversharpening, but it's probably a matter of lowering the high lights after the sharpen.
Take care.
