>It appears that this was processed with HDR, and if that is the case it is slightly "overcooked," and thereby detracts from the reality of a beautiful scene. If the HDR feel was what you were aspiring to, then that's fine.
>I would pull back somewhat on the vignetting across the top and in the upper corners.

This is a wonderful photo and a great first post! It is plain to see that you have an eye for a strong comp. You have placed the components in this frame in the perfect manner. The shutter speed and clarity on the water is pretty. The colors and placement of the cliff is right on and the dark moody sky is the icing on the cake.
Due to the buildings on the cliff you may need to post this in the Man & Nature gallery.
Normally I would just clone the buildings out but in this case I like them in the photo.
I hope to see more from you.
Welcome to NPN and the Landscape/ES&S Gallery! Great to have you hear and this is a wonderful first post and seascape. I just love the color in the water and the longer shutter speeds effect on the surf against the rugged cliffs.
The vignetting is a little strong and probably explains the fuzziness of the LLC (lower left corner) but I like the effect overall - kind of gives this a historical look and feel.
While the houses on the bluff are quite small in the frame, I do think they are a noticeable and actually a pretty important part of the image. So I hope you understand that I'll be moving this to the Man & Nature Gallery after posting my comment. And don't worry too much about it as it happens fairly often for first time posters. I hope you understand and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact myself or one of the other moderators.
Welcome aboard!

i dont know why the llc appears so smudgy, i guess it was the proximity (effect of waves motion decreasing with distance) + vignetting (maybe i blurred it a little too).
it's not really an hdr (whatever you call an "hdr", hard to define precisely), only one shoot, maybe i use a little of tonemapping here (don't even remember, .psd is on another hard disk now).
you're right about the houses, sorry i should have post it in man&nature gallery. i could have clone them out, but finally i like them, as a witness to the fight
