Kintail Cemetery
by Ian Cameron
Loch Duich, Kintail, Scotland
Nestled in a crook of Loch Duich near the tiny coastal village of Kintail is an old cemetry with a staggering view of the Five Sisters of Kintail. On this occasion I was lucky enough to find some extremely elusive and very fine light which found its way through the heavy clouds and bathed the old church cemetry in exquisite golden sunlight. It was a memorable moment before sunset.

12 commentsjust wondering about the red zone at the bottom of the BG mountain...could it be darker?
I have a music CD," Return to Kintail" by by Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser & Tony McManus (guitar). I can hear that music in my head when I look at your image.
That red patch is just a stray patch of sunlight that has managed to pierce the clouds and paint a single spot on the slopes. It happened a few times before the sun disapperared with one particularly odd one appearing two thirds of the way up the mountain as sharply edged and etched as a coin of the realm and completely isolated with the rest of the hill in shadow..
I'm not sure it would work but from the aspect of turning this into fine art, I would be most tempted to soften and darken the mountains and clouds so that the attention stays on the light and the buildings.
Cheers,
Carol
PS. One other possibility occurs to me. When I viewed the larger image, I couldn't see the top, and perhaps it's just the height that is pulling my eyes up, up, and away. Maybe cropping an inch or so from the top might help focus more attention on your buildings, the light, and the curved road.
i found this area quite attractive for the eyes, but that could be remained this way, at least for the odd lighting aspect
by the way, thank you for sharing your work, wich has always be one of my top inspiration (such as mark adamus's one too).
Love the color pallette, the perspective, and the fog.
Congrats on a fine EP!
