Cattle Egret in Flight

Spent the morning in the Peace River on a flats boat photographing nesting birds in the mangrove island rookeries.

The cattle egrets were very active bringing in nesting material.

Nice behavior shot and I like that you got the catchlight in that yellow eye. I am seeing a slight halo around some of the bird. Well done!

The nesting material is a nice addition to a beautiful shot.

Well done. I like the flight position, the front lighting, the good detail, the catchlight and the nesting material in the beak. There is a very slight halo under the lower mandible and the breast of the bird, easily cured.

Nice behavior and breeding colors!
From here, could use some additional sharpening and a bit of lightening to bird only.
Very nice catch!

Michael,

Love the flight pose, the light in the egret's eye, position of the wings, natural colors and the twig in the bill. I would work on resolving the halo issue especially since in some areas it looks like the color of the birds legs bled through into the halo. Sharpness looks good but the fine feather details (especially in the larger version) seem to be lacking. I like the comp you used.
