Old Barney

So, I was fortunate to be able to spend every summer of my childhood on a barrier island. Growing up with my feet in the sand and my eyes toward the sea and the sky did a good bit to lay the foundation for the tremendous respect that I have for all things natural.

A predawn capture of Barnegat Light (Long Beach Island, NJ)...the same island where I spent my childhood.

Two exposures...one for the scene and another at higher ISO for the beams of light...

All C&C is welcome!

Thank you for looking...

Robert

I like this a lot Robert. The collapsed fence is a great lead in. The night sky, pin point stars, beacons of light, color and all, is a real treat. The light in the foreground on on the lighthouse adds to the wonderful mood.

BTW - I grew up in north Jersey and spent 2 weeks every summer on LBI in Beach Haven.where my parents would rent a bungalow. Great place.

Wow! This is fanciful with the sky saturated with otherworldy colors and starlights twinkling. An enchanting mood...I think the foreground anchors it well...else it would seem near to animation.

Beautiful Robert! I have sailed by that light many times and it never looked so beautiful!

Hi Robert,
I love the idea, but for my taste the top half of the image looks to much like a painting. The composition, subject, lighting etc. is wonderful. Is it possible to make the top look less like a painting? If it matched the bottom just a little more, I think this image would be one of the best around. Its a fantastic creation! I really like the overall body of work you have posted here so far. Great talent and effort!

Robert, I think this is the best Barnegat shot I've ever seen. To me it's a very hard light to capture well. :toast:

Surreal capture and processing. Lovely color, and the beams of light really add.
