Magenta Moment

This is somewhat similar to a previous hummingbird post. In this one, I found a male Anna's Hummingbird that was every bit as bright as the magenta Fireweed upon which he was feeding.

I've been fussing with the upper right corner and finally solved the problem with a small application of a tan to transparent gradient.

This was shot with a D700, 500mm f/4 lens at 1/1600s, manual exposure, matrix metering, ISO 250, and tripod.

Looking forward to comments and critiques.

Another beauty, Carol. Selective color is tastefully managed. Really nice verticals to match the orientation, and the muted verticals at the edges make a subtle and effective framing device.

I love this Carol. The desaturation of the image gives the fireweed a delicate, almost etched look. Pulling out a little more brightness from the Anna's breast is the only small suggestion I have. Beautiful rendering!

Gorgeous kind of antique look with the sepia background working perfectly against the magenta. Great.
