Locust Nymph

This is a shot that I'm quite fond of which seems to get mixed reviews from other photographers. I found this nymph grasshopper on a dandelion and carefully set up a piece of black card behind it. I used a flash in a homemade softbox above and to camera right while a second flash (zoomed) provided rim lighting from camera right behind the subject

105mm macro on FF camera. f16 at 1/25th sec on ISO 200.

Any c&c is always welcome and appreciated.

Thanks for looking

The thought and planning that went into this shot shows. The black background is perfect, and the lighting couldn't be better. The subject is unusual, and very beautiful. Great comp. This shot really stands out as something special, Emil. Well done.

I think this is a terrific picture, Emil. Great detail on the grasshopper and stem and a very interesting hanging backwards comp. One suggestion may be to crop off the top of the dandelion since the seed fluffs are not in focus. That would be a simple, all in focus image that I think would be even more stunning!

What a little cutie. I like it. I like the way you showed the long road up to get to the top
