Looks like a film scan, kind of posterized. I get a feel for the rapids here, which is a good thing, but the rest of the shot doesnt really mesh well with the creek--its just there. You have to think about what it is that prompts you to take the photo--then formulate a plan to show that aspect or subejct in the 'most favorable light'. I cant answer how to do that for this particular subject, cause i dont know your goal here, but that is the strategy i would suggest. :wavey:

This was taken with one of my very first cameras and playing with actions in Photoshop. I would like to think that I have come a long way since then although I still have lots and lots and lots to learn. I just moved to Colorado and I can't wait to get out and explore the parks here. I would love any advice or tips from others. Maybe even find photographers in the area to do some shooting with. I am in Fowler. CO. Thanks so much everyone! :wavey:

Summer, the framework and comp are pretty good but it would help if it was sharper. Use a tripod next time with a cable release or remote. Maybe even show how far the water comes from too?

Hi Summer - welcome to NPN! As you post you will get more from critiques if you include more information about the shot - the techinical info, your intent, any post-processing, etc. I don't know if it was your intent, but the processing or blur definitely leaves one thinking that either you wanted a posterized effect or you missed your field of focus. I like your shutter speed. But find no primary subject. When I think about river/waterfall scenes, I tend to like those best that have a composition that clearly includes some element emphasized.

Hope this helps.
