This is my first post in this gallery. Today I went to a state park and a state forest and was on U.S. 17 on my way to a national wildlife refuge when I came to a detour for this wildfire. I pulled over to the side for a couple of minutes to get some images, then was told I needed to move because the fire was going to jump the road, and so I moved. This is one of the images I got. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Good shooting, Barbara. That's quite an inferno. Was this fire related to the severe weather moving through the south or something else? Very dynamic shot with the ashes floating in the red shimmer. The contrast with the greenery is also a really nice contrast.

Thanks, Craig. :) I asked a police officer and the firefighter who told me to move and neither one knew at that point what had happened, only that it wasn't related to any prescribed burn because there were no prescribed burns today. There were also no storms and no lightning today. I think that only really leaves a human cause for it. :( I haven't been able to find any news about it online.

Great image! Heard about the wildfires in Texas but not Florida. Think you're very brave getting that close. Hope the firefighters get it under control soon.

I love the picture, sometimes fires can be a good thing for a forest. In Australia it allows the bush to regrow nicely, the ashes give the ground fertility. To us humans though it can seem like total destruction.

This is really powerful Barbara, and as a has-been wildfire fighter, I can assure you the advice was good. Even at 229mm you were too close! Nice that you were supervised and got the brief opportunity, because the results are as memorable as they are powerful.

Welcome to EPJ! :toast:

An excellent image Barbara.
The feeling of the hot inferno along with the contrast between the fire and lush greens in the foreground are great!
