Wasn't sure which gallery to post this on, but at the time the image was made I was shooting birds. Not sure about the friendship, either.

Believe me, there is no friendship between the two. I believe herons and egrets and other water birds can tell/feel the intentions of alligators. They know when they are feeding and when they are just hanging out. Most gators feed at night or very early or late in the day. However, there are always exceptions. Neat shot overall.

Just kidding about the friendship. Believe me, every bird in the vicinity of a gator keeps watch. And birds are so quick to respond that alligators seldom catch one.

Great capture! Looks the the egret is keeping a close eye on the gator. Best regards, Andrei :toast:

I think this is a fine image. It tells a story well. I think the birds can tell when the gators are feeding or not. The last time I was on the Anhinga Trail I got some images of Green Herons and gators very close like this.

What an interesting "two'fer" Wayne! A very neat behavior shot, for both the bird and reptile.

Very cool Wayne, nice job stopping down here. It doesn't look like you had really good light for this, I would try a small curves adjustment to see if you can get it to pop a bit more. I've got a series of a duck and 2 turtles that I was wondering which gallery to put in as well, I think I'll put a shot in each. :toast:

Very cool shot of both, mostly because of the proximity of the animals. I would be thrilled to get one like this. I also like the reflections.

Very cool image Wayne. At first when I saw the thumb nail I thought the bird was sitting on top of the Gator. Nice job on the whites. WOW, f/13. Great depth off field to get both sharp. The snowy doesn't look too concerned. Must do this type of thing frequently enough to know the gators traits. Very egaging image. :toast:

neat shot, Wayne, and nice job getting both sharp. I think that Nate may be onto something suggesting a little curves adjustment to give it a little more impact.

The Gator must be burning with shame at such a disrespectful attitude shown by the Egret ;^p

Nice shot Wayne :^)
